About us

Te Oranga Kaumatua Kuia Support Services Trust provide services for Kaumatua kuia who are aged 65 years and over and who have a disability and/or require a Kaupapa Maori Health Service that is appropriate to their needs. Kaumatua kuia and their whanau need to be residents in Te Puaha Ki Manuka (Counties-Manukau).

We deliver this service based on the Te Whare Tapa Wha model.

The four cornerstones of Maori health:

  • Te Taha Wairua - Spiritual Component
  • Te Taha Whanau - Family Component
  • Te Taha Tinana - Physical Component
  • Te Taha Hinengaro - Mental Component

The Service will be delivered in the acknowledgement that Te Reo Rangatira is an essential part of the holistic concept of Te Ao Maori.

Our services are specifically targeted at Kaumatua kuia who require support for an intellectual physical or sensory disability, cognitive impairment, neurological condition, dementia and other medical conditions. However, kaumatua kuia from other ethnic groups (European, Pacific Island, Indian, Asian) are more than welcome to access our services or supports. Our services are provided in the least restrictive way.
